Belkyra(Double Chin Treatment)
What is Belkyra?
Belkyra is a non-surgical injectable technique used to reduce the fat beneath the chin. The process uses a series of injections to target fat cells below the chin. No incisions are required and the down time is minimal.
How it works:
A synthetic form of the naturally occuring deoxycholic acid is injected in the are of concern and this destroy the fat cells beneath the chin and the destroyed fact cells are no longer able to store fat.
Pre-treatment Preparation:
It is advisable to schedule well before any major events. Washing the face properly before the appointment can help the risk of infection, and avoiding ibuprofen, acetaminophen can prevent post treatment bruising.
Procedure:
The health professional will mark the area to be treated and a topical numbing cream or ice pack will be applied. 20 to 50 injections may be needed per treatment to cover the marked area . 2 to 6 treatments may be required ,one month between each treatment. The recovery is minimal and downtime is variable .
Each treatment takes 15 to 20 minutes .
Patient with the following health conditions may not be suitable patients for Belkyra injections:
* Uncontrolled thyroid gland disorder
* Pregnancy or are undergoing IVF procedure
* Skin related autoimmune diseases
* Silicone implants and / or injections in targeted area
* Metal implants in treated area
* Active inflammation and /or infection in the treatment area
* A degenerative neurologic disease or any other health problem in the area of treatment that is stimulated by heat , for example, herpes
* Current or history of cancer
* Internal defibrillator and pace maker
* Skin related autoimmune diseases
Possible Side Effects :
Pain, swelling, bruising, redness, numbness. Minor side effects usually subsides in one to two weeks . Serious side effects include facial muscle weakness, uneven smile ,trouble swallowing or nerve injury in the jaw which will require immediate health professional assessment
