What is Chronic Migraine?
Much more than a headache, a migraine is a collection of neurological symptoms that can be incapacitating. Sometimes people are aware a migraine is starting by feeling what is known as an aura. An aura is often some change in vision (seeing spots, flashing lights, tingling in the arms and legs etc.) but may be numbness or even weakness which signals a headache is coming soon. Chronic Migraine is one of many different types of headaches.
Chronic Migraine is fifteen or more headache days each month with migraine on at least eight days of those days, each lasting four or more hours. With episodic migraine, you have fourteen or fewer headache days a month.
Although, the injections are uncomfortable, the local anesthetic eliminates the pain quickly. However, with may level injections, you may feel unable to tolerate the pain and alternatives will be considered.
