Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes inflammation, redness, pimples, broken blood vessels and thickening of the skin. According to Canadian Dermatology Association, this skin condition commonly affects over 3 million Canadians. Rosacea naturally affects only the skin on the nose, cheeks and forehead, but redness may also be present on the neck, chest and somewhere else.
Rosacea most often appears as redness or blushing on the cheeks and nose. However, symptoms may include:
Rosacea can be effectively treated using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). IPL uses controlled light in specific wavelengths to alleviate the inflammation, redness, pimples and uneven skin tones caused by the condition.
Rosacea Laser treatment is relatively safe, comfortable, and requires no topical anesthesia in advance. Also, there is no downtime, you can easily fit into your busy schedule immediately after treatment.
Depending on severity of symptoms, skin type, and other factors, patients respond to Rosacea Laser treatment differrently. You may require 2-8 treatments that are spaced 6 weeks apart.
Rosacea Laser treatment will offer you better results than any topical medication available for rosacea. The effects are long-lasting, with a clearer skin for years after completing your treatments. Also, it is a very low-risk procedure with few side effects.
Regrettably, laser treatment is not suitable for all rosacea patients. The treatment is not recommended for pregnant women, patients with darker skin, and patients who scar easily, have a blood-clotting disorder, or have insulin-dependent diabetes.
The right candidates for rosacea treatment are those patients who have persistent redness or small but visible red lines. At your initial consultation, our Physician will determine whether Rosacea Laser treatment is right for you.
